ipod-touch.pngMy lovely missus gave me an iPod Touch for Christmas, and I love everything about it. However, I’ve always thought that it had a few features that were (needlessly) missing - the main one being Mail. Since the iPod Touch is, to all intents and purposes, an iPhone without the phone I never really understood why this particular feature wasn’t included (it does have WiFi connectivity for the Internet, after all).

So imagine my joy when Apple announced it’s January Software Update - then imagine my confusion when I was told that it was going to cost me £12.99. Remember, that’s £12.99 for features that all new iPod Touch’s have as standard (and they are exactly the same hardware). ‘Cheeky’, I thought - but I still want it!

So I followed the onscreen instructions, upgraded iTunes to 7.6, and upgraded the onboard iPod software to the latest version (1.1.3, I think), ready to install all these lovely new apps. When it came to purchase the upgrade, I was surprised to find that my iPod already had the software onboard (as part of version 1.1.3) and just needed to be unlocked! ‘Cheeky’ has now been upgraded to ‘Proper Cheeky’!

Anyway, Apple’s unashamed attempts to weasel even more money money out of their loyal customers aside, I love the new features - particularly Mail (useful when I’m out and about and passing through WiFi hotspots) and Notes.

Apple - cheeky bastards, but they don’t half make great kit!

I realise that there has been something of a drought on the blogging front since before Christmas last year - this is not for lack of inspiration or activity - quite the opposite in fact! The New Year has certainly rung in loads of changes (including yet another new design for this site!), and I’m going to set aside a few hours over the coming days to tell you all about it.

I just wanted to let y’all know that I haven’t abandoned this site (though the course may have changed slightly). Take care, speak soon.

Oh yeah, Happy New Year!
